L. Kellenberger & Co. AG Poised for Summer 2023 Opening of New Production Location in Switzerland

CEO Hardinge Europe/L. Kellenberger & Co. AG Predicts Capacity & Efficiency Improvements with New Facility

ELMIRA, NY (April 28, 2022) – The projected summer 2023 opening of the new L. Kellenberger & Co. AG production facility in Eastern Switzerland is on target for the Hardinge, Inc. company. A January 2020 company announcement detailed how the production facilities from St. Gallen, Wittenbach, and Romanshorn would relocate to the company’s new 6.18 acre location in Goldach, Switzerland. The need for better efficient production flows prompted the anticipated move.

According to CEO Hardinge Europe/L. Kellenberger & Co. AG, Viktor Gaspar, a very sophisticated new manufacturing philosophy is planned for the anticipated L. Kellenberger & Co. AG company headquarters in Goldach. “All grinding machine brands belonging to Hardinge, like Kellenberger, Voumard, Hauser and Tschudin, will be brought together in one place with sales, research and development, production, assembly, warehouse and administration.”

The 4.45 acre production hall will serve as the new location’s centerpiece housing the following areas:

  • Spindle Construction,
  • Grinding Shop and Measuring Area,
  • Showroom, and
  • Training Workshop.

Providing added value for its customers continues to be the focus of L. Kellenberger & Co. AG. “Today’s customers don’t buy machines, they buy solutions, and we want to further meet this demand with the best machine configurations in the grinding sector,” said Gaspar.

L. Kellenberger & Co. AG is also very aware of how its business activities affect the environment. Gaspar said the Goldach facility will feature streamlined production processes, as well as an optimized assembly process, which will bring high improvements in capacity and efficiency.

“Vibration-insulated foundations will significantly reduce noise pollution for employees,” explained Gaspar. “A central cooling and compressed air system using groundwater and Lake Constance water in accordance with the latest environmental aspects will help to reduce operating costs.”

Gaspar also emphasized how the time-consuming and cost-intensive commuting between the St. Gallen, Wittenbach, and Romanshorn sites will also be eliminated by merging the brands at the Goldach location.

Meanwhile, a bright future with major growth is the future forecast for L. Kellenberger & Co. AG. “In order to expand our business fields, we will make further acquisitions, also in the machine periphery, in order to establish ourselves as a system supplier and stand out from the competition,” said Gaspar.
